Frequently Asked Questions
How does TapSpell work?
TapSpell is an educational spelling and word game for kids. Choose from three game modes on the home screen — Letters, Sentences, or Word Sudoku — or tackle the Daily Challenge. Each mode targets different learning skills: spelling, vocabulary in context, and logical thinking. Your weekly and all-time scores are tracked right on the home screen.
What are the three game modes?
Letters — See a picture of a word, then drag the correct letter tiles into the blank slots to spell it out. Great for building spelling skills from the ground up.
Sentences — Read a sentence with a missing word and choose the correct answer from three options. Builds vocabulary and contextual understanding.
Word Sudoku — Place letter tiles in a grid so the target word appears exactly once in each row and column. A logic puzzle that trains pattern-thinking in young minds.
What is the Daily Challenge?
Every day, TapSpell presents a fresh spelling challenge — "Here is your daily challenge." Complete it to keep your streak going! The daily challenge is a great way to build a consistent learning habit. Your current streak count is shown on the home screen next to the flame icon.
How do hints work?
Each game session gives you a set number of hints (shown by the lightbulb icon in the top-right corner). Tap the hint button when you're stuck and TapSpell will give you a nudge in the right direction. Hints are a great tool for learners who need a little extra support — use them wisely!
Can my child hear the words out loud?
Yes! Every word in TapSpell can be heard out loud. Tap the speaker icon on any game screen to hear the word pronounced clearly. This is especially helpful for early readers and learners who are still developing their phonics skills.
How does the scoring system work?
TapSpell tracks both your "This Week" score and your "All Time" score, displayed prominently on the home screen. Points are earned by completing levels in each game mode. The more levels you complete, the higher your score. Keep coming back daily to grow your all-time score!
How do levels work in each mode?
Each game mode has its own independent level counter. You'll see your current level displayed within each mode (e.g., "Letters — Level 26", "Sentences — Level 11", "Word Sudoku — Level 7"). Progress through levels at your own pace — there's no time limit and no penalty for taking your time.
Is TapSpell suitable for my child's age?
TapSpell is designed for young learners of all ages — it's particularly well-suited for children aged 4 and up. The Letters mode is perfect for beginners just learning to spell, while Sentences and Word Sudoku are great for more advanced learners. The difficulty scales progressively with each level so kids are always challenged but never overwhelmed.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of TapSpell
- Make it a daily habit — even just 5–10 minutes a day is enough to maintain a streak and steadily grow vocabulary over time.
- Use the audio button often — hearing a word pronounced correctly helps with phonics and spelling retention, especially for early readers.
- Try all three modes — each mode builds a different skill. Mix Letters, Sentences, and Word Sudoku throughout the week for a well-rounded learning experience.
- Don't rush through hints — instead of tapping hints immediately, encourage your child to try first. Use hints as a last resort to keep the learning challenge meaningful.
- Celebrate level progress — notice when the level counter goes up! Pointing this out to kids reinforces their sense of progress and motivates continued play.
- Word Sudoku for older kids — if your child finds Letters too easy, Word Sudoku offers a genuine mental challenge that even adults find tricky at higher levels.
- Sentences mode builds real-world vocabulary — the fill-in-the-blank format mirrors how vocabulary is tested in school, making it great exam preparation too.
